We could reinstate the laws that prevented one person from owning a large number of media outlets.

Why did the news media normalize Trump? Was it corporate ownership, the quest for ratings, fear of losing access, or something else? I suppose we don’t have to choose. It could have been all these things. Understanding why they did it seems to matter less than whether they can come back from it. Public trust in the news media has taken a hit. Can they recover this trust? If so, what would need to change?
