Making a cup of coffee and bringing it to me is an incredibly difficult task. If you don’t agree with that, try teaching it to a child under two years old. Keep the vacuum and paper towels handy; you’ll need them.
Young children obviously can and do learn to do things like that. It requires trial and error, it’s helpful to have someone point out mistakes (“Don’t tip the cup when you are carrying it”), and it’s extremely helpful to see someone else do the task. But if the child understands the goal of making and delivering a fresh cup of coffee, they’ll learn how to do it.
When they are a bit older, we can teach them multiplication and division, how to drive a car, a million other things, and even how to program computers. In fact, many people say that last skill will be very important to have.
