What Do You Call Communism if Nobody Has to Work?

What happens next? Maybe not what you think

The logical endpoint of viral AI is that smart machines do everything for us. Nobody has to work. What could this mean for the world?

No, we aren’t there yet, though some people think it could happen pretty quickly. Those folks think that AI is close to its fission point, where each advance leads to an viral progression that brings us to the so-called Singularity in a very few years. At that point, all problems are solved, everything that can be known will be known, and machines are creating everything we could ever want.

I agree that can happen, but I think it’s much further away. I do not expect to live long enough to see it, but younger people reading this might.

Assuming, of course, that we don’t destroy ourselves because of war, failure to address ecological dangers, yadda, yadda.

If we do get there? What then? Nobody has to work. Basically, everyone is retired and can have whatever they want, whenever they want. There are no shortages, we all can be as equal as we want to be. The only thing we would have to fear is crazy people who want to destroy our nirvana, but AI has found a way to straighten them out too.
