What stops us in America is our unwillingness to tax the wealthy at a sensible rate. We won’t do it, the rest of us are stones without blood, so there is no money to do these things. Add to that the automatic resistance from Republicans to almost anything the Dems suggest, and nothing useful will happen unless it further enriches someone who already has too much.

We are doomed.
