What the iPad offered me was light weight and long battery life. It has been my primary device since the very first one.
My new M1 Air gives me both. I will not be buying another iPad until my current one gasps and dies and even then I'll be buying the cheapest, lower power model just to have something at hand if the Mac is unavailable.
