Why I Am Buying an iPhone 14 and Maybe You Should Too
I was planning on buying a new watch, but this makes more sense
My plan for this Fall of 2022 was that if Apple added anything significant to the Watch, we’d replace our Series Five models. Apple did add quite a few new features, but only two were compelling for us: Crash Detection and Low Power mode.
Our Series 5’s never had great battery life, but it turns out that the Low Power option is being ported as far back as Series 4. Scuttlebutt is that the older models won’t get as much value out of this as the Series 8, but it can’t hurt. It isn’t going to give us the sort of power control I wished for, but maybe it will help our old watches.
That Crash Detection feature could matter. I think my car already has it built in, but that wouldn’t notify my family, and Apple would.
But…
The iPhone 14 has Crash Detection plus Emergency SOS via Satellite.
