Yeah, sure, for those of us doing well, it doesn't matter. When you have far more money than you need, it doesn't matter.

So you can buy the avocado or not. So can I.

Lucky us!

But for people who never could buy the avocado-- or the $12 burrito, for that matter-- for those people, creeping inflation is dangerous. These are the people who won't get a raise, who worry about being laid off, or already are, who feel themselves sliding deeper and deeper into debt.

Those people don't have money to put in the stock market! They can't outrun inflation like we can!

Hey, I need a new roof! Looks like it might cost $13,000. Does that make me panic? No, because I have that much and more lying around. But for many people, that roof isn't getting fixed. And the little leaks ruining the ceilings, the pans put out to catch drips, the anxious hope that it won't rain, all those things are the only things they can do because they are already living on the edge.

We spent $250 on groceries this week. That's just the two of us. We pamper ourselves, I bet you do too. Too many other people are hoping the local food bank has some stale bread that some well off asshole thought was so kind to give.

You and I are lucky. Maybe you think you deserve to be lucky? If you do think that, you are wrong. Those other people who struggle aren't any different from you and I. They just weren't as lucky, maybe never caught a break their entire lives or maybe are just now entering the world of poverty.

It could happen to us. You might not believe that it could happen to you because you think you are too smart, too special.

You aren't. That bragging "Making of a millionaire"ย could turn to dust.

Wake up.
