Yeah, the value isn't always direct. Back in the late 90's to mid 2000's, my tech website brought me $500-$1,000 dollars a month in Adsense advertising but ten times that in consulting business from readers who hired me.

Now I'm retired, so I only get the direct money. Not quite as much :)
