Yes, I usually read two to three books daily when I was younger. I don't have time for that now.
I disagree that most writing is not grammatical. Yes, some of it causes ny teeth to grate, but I've read many books with the same apparent sloppiness. That's particularly true for newer works.
But what I think is sloppy may be perfectly good usage.
You and I are about the same age. We grew up in a different world and we used a different language. Our language has changed; many constructions that you and I dislike are acceptable today. More than acceptable: they are blessed by dictionaries and grammar guides.
I'm sure there are people who seldom read anything. That's why Youtube is so popular. However, I doubt that writers here "never read". I think they consume quite a pile of written content and that it doesn't matter if that's books or not.
