You Are Folding It Wrong
Duh!
For most of our marriage, my wife folded my socks and underwear. Rarely would I find a pile of unfolded clothes hanging about, but when I did, I’d fold them and put them in my drawer. This was often wasted time as she would refold them “properly”.
I never saw the point of rolling up socks. I just take them from the drying rack and put them in my sock drawer. They take up less space because there are no air gaps, and I don’t have to unroll them when I grab them. Neat? No, but better.
I cheerfully admit that the results of her efforts always looked impressively neater than mine. I may not see the point of hiding my underwear in a drawer when it looks like table linen ready to be put out for visiting royalty, but so what? She liked it that way.
Now that I am retired, I can pounce on my clothes more quickly than I could before. I might hear the dryer stop and be able to whisk off a pile of my stuff to quickly fold and put away. She didn’t notice any of this secret folding for months, but she caught me starting to fold underwear on the couch yesterday.
“You are doing that wrong,” she informed me.
