You Really Should Consider a Mac Mini

You forgot all about it, didn’t you?

A Mac What?

I said Mac Mini. If you go into an Apple store it might be hidden behind the iMacs. If you tell the salesperson you are looking for a new computer, there’s about a 1% chance they’ll mention it even if you are standing in front of it playing with it when you ask.

If computers had feelings, these things would be sobbing themselves to sleep when the stores close every night.

Justified Neglect?

There was a period of time when this machine had some reason to be ignored. From 2005 to 2014, Apple put out new models every year or so, but then they stopped. If you were looking for a computer in 2017, the Mac Mini was three years old and people tend to like newer, faster models.

On the other hand, it was (and is) inexpensive and the available configurations were not all that bad: the low end sported an Intel Core I5 and the other model was a Core I7, which was not all that slow for the time. The 2017 iMac had the same processors, although clocked higher. Simply put, you could do much worse.

Cheap because…
